DNurbs: DNA modeled with NURBS

Mike Carson and Zi Yang

Abstract

DNurbs (dee-in-urbs) are a small number of bicubic patches wrapping each base pair in complementary DNA. NURBS, the Non-Uniform Rational B-spline Surfaces now popular in computer graphics, are employed for the patches. Control points for the surface patches are generated from the molecular surface based on canonical base pairs.
